It's so nice to meet you!
I'm Melissa Mulligan.

I'm a  vocal and music career coach who has worked with platinum-selling and world-touring artists such as Jack from AJR, Coley O'Toole (Green Day / We The Kings), Reed Shannon (Emmy-Award winning Arcane), Chelsea Cutler, Jeremy Zucker, Jordan Pundik from New Found Glory, Caitlin Kalafus (Cyndi Lauper/Cavetown/Tessa Violet), Hailey Knox, and 2024 BMI John Lennon Songwriter Award Winner Aria Lisslo.

For the last 15 years, I've worked with thousands of young adults and their families to design music career road maps that are calming, clear, and lead to lives as professionals in the music industry.

My students are living their dreams as award-winning songwriters, recording artists, actors, producers, executives, touring musicians and more! But what's most important to me is that they're enjoying the journey, secure in who they are and the lives they want to lead.

Some of my graduates have taken gap years and alternative paths, and others have gone on to academic programs such as NYU, USC, Belmont University, NEC, Manhattan School of Music Berklee College of Music, and many, many more. The secret is not in the institution, it's in knowing what you're hiring college to do for you, and knowing what it absolutely won't provide you, no matter where you go.

During our class I will make sure you feel clear about what path is right for YOU. Your talents, interests, career goals, and personal values will shape both your path and your destination. You're in charge.

You're headed down a very exciting, creative path! There is no need to follow the herd!

“I was accepted into my dream school in USC (fight on ✌️)! And since I’ve been there, I’ve been performing weekly, making tons of new friends and connections, and building a reputation as a musician and a songwriter. Obviously Mastermind has done a TON for me in the past... and some of my closest friends are people I met through the program. I still use the lessons I learned from Mel to this day!”

Nolan, Music Career Mastermind Graduate (USC Thornton School of Music)

"My Mastermind experiences gave me an inside and insightful perspective on the industry that elevated my learning experience in college. I went into my higher education with context of what was being taught in the classrooms. The Mastermind community is more extensive than it may seem, and when I moved to Nashville it was comforting knowing I knew some people in the area. You never know when you'll run into a fellow Mastermind in the industry!

Most recently, I started a position at SESAC, a performing rights organization! At MTSU I was part of a commercial for my university that won a regional Emmy where I provided narration/on-screen talent."

Lily, Music Career Mastermind Graduate (MTSU Class of 2024)
